Former UFC middleweight champ and wild man Evan Tanner was found dead on Monday in the Palo Verde mountain area in California after going missing in the area over the weekend.
Tanner, 37, had blogged ominously about his trip into the desert to “cleanse” as written on his Spike journal:
“I plan on going so deep into the desert, that any failure of my equipment, could cost me my life”
Already on Evan Tanner’s website is a tribute to him, a great man as an individual and a fighter. He will be sorely missed inside and outside of the Octagon. Please leave all tributes below.

Sorry, this guy was a nut case. Anyone dumb enough to dive into the desert so deep that a failure of equipment would cost his life is as dumb as dirt. Don’t care how good a fighter, dumbo deserved to die like he did. Tough luck.
It’s hard to hear about young folks who make monumental changes in their life for the good for everyone and then have a tragedy by passing over…
the moral here is he was a good man and was good for the sport and what a true gentlemen..need more like him in MMA..he will be missed!

we all have made errors or bad ecisions in our lives…most everyone did not have a decision like this to go out to a baron desert to leave themselves by themselves with the elements to possibly take over circumstances that leads to their demise,,,..
with that being said, just pray to God and thank the one above that it was not you out there and pray that evan tanner is with God!!
Try not to make fun of death as it could be some more circumstances that will be uncovered by investigators and family.. it might have been his wish,, and if so we all need to pray!
Life is so short yet so full of wonders –thank heaven that you are here and always support those who are in peril!
