Liddell vs Jardine at UFC76

 chuckcloseup.jpg

Is it just me, or with all of this Liddell Vs Silva Crap going down has this freakin weekend felt like Melrose place invaded the UFC?

UFCJunkie.com reports that the deal is all but announced between the two sluggers.

Jardine is coming off a shocking execution style butt whooping at the hands of the unknown Houston Alexander at UFC71, and Liddell of course, lost his belt and golden boy status of the UFC by blocking a Quinton Jackson right hook with his chin at UFC72.Jardine looks to be  alast minute replacement for Wanderlei Silva, who for whatever reason (I’m sick of trying to figure it all out) couldn’t fight Chuck.

Exciting? I’m not sure…but after watching what Houston Alexander did to Jardine, my gut says this matchup might be in Chuck’s favor.

UFC72 - Ed Herman Vs. Scott Smith

Ed Herman V Scott SmithRound one. Herman swings and takes Smith down to the mat. Herman has mounted Smith and is pummeling down some shots on Smith, Herman manages set us some more shots but Smith gets the fight up to their feet. Now in the clinch Herman looks better with a lot of good knees to the body. Slammed to the mat, yet Herman’s leading the fight with a lot of strikes and then a big elbow opens up Smith. The ref stops for a quick peek on the cut. It starts again and Herman’s looks like he knows what he’s doing, in fact he has to have won the round by this point. Smith turns Herman over and has the choke on but Smith reverses and the round is up.

Round two. A couple of takedown attempts, both guys are tired . Herman takes Smith to the mat and Smith gets the Guillotine but Herman somehow gets out of it. How the hell he did that, I don’t know.

Herman makes it to Smith’s full guard and is killing him with ground and pound 101. Herman gets Smiths back and gets the choke in and Smith taps out, that was locked in and from the second it was in you knew he wasn’t getting out.

Ed Herman wins with RNC 2:25 in the 2nd round.

UFC71 Main Event - Liddell Vs. Jackson

Here it comes. This is what we’ve been waiting for. Last month we were spoiled by the UFC with a PPV and a freebie, that was an awesome month, it made us miss the fighting, let’s face it, the TUF series isn’t exactly thrilling viewing.

Jackson Vs Liddell 2

Here we go, Chuck Liddell left PRIDE after Quinton Jackson beat him from the mount and Liddell’s corner throws in the towel. That was then, Liddell rejoined the UFC and has avenged ALL his losses except for one and tonight he gets that chance. Did I also mention that he is unbeaten since rejoining the UFC?

Jackson’s no chump but it is his second UFC fight so he is not as experienced in this arena as Chuck. And that counts. he won his debut fight against Marvin Eastman later in the second round with a knock out, he has knockout power. HE also went the distance to Matt Lindland so he can cope with wrestlers and Chuck uses wrestling well to position his opponent for a beatdown. I can’t wait for this fight.

Meanwhile it’s the Din Thomas fight, he got the armbar on the young kid. I think the fight was stopped prematurely but as I was explaining to my girlfriend and Joe Rogan called it that we don’t want another Mir/Sylvia thing again…

I want Chuck Liddell Vs. Quinton Jackson already! The fight play by play will be here so you know you gotta click to check it… The atmosphere is ELECTRIC! Remember, I gotta go with Liddell on this one no matter what, Chuck looks cool coming in to the ring he acknowledges the crowd, they love him. Continue reading ‘UFC71 Main Event - Liddell Vs.
