UFC70 Latest Odds

Want to know how the oddsmakers have the UFC70 matchups? Here are the latest numbers:

Gabriel Gonzaga (+350) vs Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic (-500)

Not too shabby, I think the oddsmakers are a bit gun-shy after the last two UFC events had some monumental upsets. I’m surprised that Gonzaga is getting +350 respect.

(For you rookies, (-500) means you would have to spend $500 on Cro Cop to win $100 back, or; Bet $100, win $20. For Gonzaga, bet $100, they pay out $350.)

Michael Bisping (-600) vs Elvis Sinosic (+450)

5 losses in a row for Sinosic, Bisping is undefeated AND at home. The oddsmakers aren’t giving Sinosic much of a chance.

More odds when they come availiable.

UFC70 Bisping vs Sinosic

At UFC70 this weekend there is a budding superstar in Michael “The Count” Bisping. He’s taking on UFC journeyman Elvis Sinosic in front of his home crowd in Manchester England. Bisping is the winner of TUF 3 and has an amazing MMA record of 13-0.

As a UK native, he is beloved by his countrymen and regarded as the one of the best up and coming 205 pounders in the UFC. His two UFC fights have both ended in TKO victories. Considered a fearless striker, we can probably anticipate a serious slugfest this Saturday.

Elvis Sinosic on the other hand is coming off the following five losses in a row.

  • UFC57 - Alessio Sakara by Unanimous Decision
  • UFC55 - Forrest Griffin by Technical Knock Out at 3:22 of Round 1
  • UFC38 - Renato Sobral by Unanimous Decision
  • UFC36 - Evan Tanner by Technical Knock Out at 2:06 of Round 1
  • UFC32 - Tito Ortiz by Referee Stoppage at 3:32 of Round 1

Sinosic is being pegged as a lamb to the slaughter as he doesn’t fare well against strikers, but this is the UFC, just ask Matt Serra, and Randy Couture.

This looks to be Sinosic’s last opportunity to resurrect his UFC career, although some people think it should have been over a long time ago.

UFC70 Cro Cop vs Gabriel Gonzaga

CHECK THE UF70 RESULTS.

Howdy UFC Fans, Dan here from UFC-Fights.com just checking in an article about my thoughts of Crop Cop’s fight against Gabriel Gonzaga at UFC70.

I just had a few thoughts on the last match Cro Cop had against Eddie Sanchez at UFC67. For me it was a highly anticipated fight because Crop Cop was one of my favorite fighters in PRIDE and it was certainly a great signing for us to get him into the UFC!

I watched Cro Cop stalk Eddie Sanchez and you could tell he was eyeing him up for a big punch or kick. There was one kick that almost connected like a mawashi geri jodan (my roots are karate so meh) that’s a roundhouse kick to the head to us regular joes. That’s one of Cro Cop’s biggest weapons and to quote what he said about his fight against Eddie Sanchez:

“Left leg to the hospital, right leg to the cemetary”

Man, that’s brutal! I honestly got the feeling that he was going to KILL Eddie Sanchez. I felt bad for Eddie, he had 6 fights under his belt versus Cro Cops 21 wins at the time. That was reeking of inexperience and that’s why I wsa thinking that this fight was goign to produce either a big frikking upset or as predicted a knockout or TKO win for Cro Cop. 4 and a half minutes into the first round and we got our TKO.

Now think of Gabriel Gonzaga…

7 wins and 1 loss (incidentally to Fabricio Werdum on the same UFC70 Fight Card). He’s had two previous fights in the Octagon so he’s not completely new to the UFC. This could be a big factor in this matchup, also the fact that he’s tagged as being a submission master and looking at his short record he has a few KO/TKO stoppages in there also. He seems well rounded.

Cro Cop knocking out Aleksander EmelianenkoCro Cop’s strengths are all on one side, left punches, big left kick - ask Wanderlei or Aleksander Emelianenko ;) I am just worried that he might get taken down and subbed, simple as! Experience is on his side, he’s had a decision loss against Mark Hunt (forget that), Big Nog, Kevin Randleman and Fedor Emelianenko (when’s he coming to the UFC?!?!?!?!). Three quality opponents he’s lost against.

Final thing before I get my ass out for breakfast… Cro Cop didn’t get to fight Big Nog (who’s now in the UFC) again nor did he get to fight Fedor again (so maybe Dana & co should sign him!).

UFC70 fight comments

CHECK THE UF70 RESULTS.

I am checking the UFC70 official site and I see that there are three fights being pushed as the main events:

  • Crop Cop Vs. Gabriel Gonzaga
  • Lyoto Machida Vs. David Heath
  • Michael Bisping Vs. Elvis Sinosic

Now where abouts on this card is Arlovski even mentioned? Here is the UFC70 Fight Card. Note who’s number 4 on the list! He’s had 12 fights in the UFC since the year 2000, you’d think they’d be pushing him a little harder since losing out the third in the rubber versus Tim Sylvia. He’s coming back, knocking the crap out of Marcio Cruz (KO in the first) and hopefully kicking Fabricio Werdum in the nuts to take another win. Getting back on the UFC horse. That’s what it’s all about Andrei.

Unfortunately for Arlovski, he’s not fighting a lil biatch off the street. He’s up against a guy who subbed Fedor’s lil bro Aleksander Emelianenko at PRIDE 2 Hot 2 Handle in November. He also went the distance with Big Nog, so you get where this kid’s coming from.

I want Arlovski to convince people that he deserves a title shot, but that said, I don’tknow where he stands in line. Come on my Russian brother, do your job and kick ass.
