Georges St. Pierre’s recent comments

Apparently Georges St. Pierre has taken back his dignified response to getting beaten by Matt Serra at UFC69. After the fight GSP stood up and admitted that Serra was the better man which for him to do was very much in accordance with his honorable character…

UFCmania published some audio of the talented, young Canadian and it didn’t portray him as the honorable gentleman that most people thinks he is. GSP claimed to still have the same old knee injury that stopped him from defending his title at UFC67. His training prior to the event was something he raised as being insufficient and not only the amount of training and the time he prepared for but also the conditions in his training camp.

And finally, the icing on the cake is how he says that if the fight been against Matt Hughes, he would have pulled out because he was unprepared and unwilling to fight such a skilled fighter in Matt Hughes, someone he obviously hold in high regards yet doesn’t extend this as far as Matt Serra. Of course, Matt Serra being the straight up guy that he is had a response and I thank UFCmania for the quotes here:

“Georges St. Pierre is a pathetic liar. He stood up after the fight like a man and admitted he got beat. Now this bullshit? How do you do a total 180? It’s so disheartening. I earned this. I worked my friggin’ ass off for this fight. All I did was give him respect and now he wants to save face by shitting on me? All I heard before the fight was how he was going to train like he never trained before and that he had to be absolutely perfect, and now he says he didn’t train. So which is it? Are you a liar now or a liar then? Everything is a cliché with this guy. Stop reading from the script for once and speak from the heart.

Don’t get me wrong, he’s a good, talented fighter but he got beat. I know it’s hard for his camp to believe that Superman lost, but he did. Now they want to say it’s because he wasn’t in shape? If he wasn’t in shape he wouldn’t have been able to go five rounds but he didn’t even last three minutes so I don’t want to hear it. Maybe it’s his entourage — he’s led around by a bunch of morons, well except for his kickboxing coach that guy gets it. But the rest of them they got him convinced he’s a God. He must be a mental midget, which makes us about even since I’m a physical midget. Hey what can I say, I wasn’t blessed with height.

Anyway, for a guy who preaches honor and character, he sure isn’t showing any. I miss the old GSP. I was just as big a fan of his as everyone else. Where is he? You know, that guy who was everything Matt Hughes wasn’t. That makes it even worse. We already knew Matt Hughes was an asshole but Georges was supposed to be one of the good guys. Now we see what he’s really made of. He was calling me his friend before the fight and now all of the sudden I was never anything more than an acquaintance. Well fuck you, I don’t want to be your friend. Hit the road Frenchy.”

Come on Georges, please at least respond and apologize and clear this up.

Okami replaces Kampmann at UFC72

franklin.jpgIt looks like Rich Franklin will still have his hands full when he steps into the octagon at UFC72. Yushin Okami, fresh of his unanimous decision victory against Mike Swick at UFC69, steps up to take on the former champ. This will be Rich Franklin’s second fight back after being totally dominated by Anderson Silva and losing his middleweight title at UFC64.

His comeback began with a TKO victory at UFC68 when Canadian Jason MacDonald’s corner threw in the towel after the second round of their fight, putting his record at an amazing 21 - 2 - 0.

Yushin OkamiOkami strangely has the same number of fights as Rich Franklin, but adds a loss to his career. He does have a win against current middleweight champ Anderson Silva, but it came by way of disqualification as Silva was penalized for an illegal kick at Rumble at the Rock 8 in 2006.

UFC69 Results Reaction

Wow, if you weren’t watching UFC69 last night then I hope you were being forced to work and earning triple double time or at least with the hottest piece of ass in the world! UFC69 was INSANE!

The results for UFC69 were not what anyone expected. The main event saw George St. Pierre take on the huge underdog in Matt Serra. Underdog, yes, but he always had a chance. Everyone (111) voted that GSP would win, check the poll archives. 49% said that GSP would win by TKO Strikes, 34% by KO, 14% said submission (why?!) and 3% said he’s win by a decision. All good, that’s what we all thought and that’s what was going to happen until Serra caught GSP with a sweet hook and GSP went to the mat. Serra immediately mounted him and started to punch the crap out of him until Big John McCarthy stepped in to stop it. Screw Easter, Christmas has come early for Matt Serra. Back home ot Long Island with some nice belt bling for him.

The other “upset” was the Josh Koscheck Vs. Diego Sanchez fight, or should I say Sanchezzzzzzzzzzz (I am falling asleep here). Man, 15 minutes of my life I wish I was doing something else. Oscar De La Hoya trained Sanchez well, in fact he trained him so well that he forgot he was a college wrestling champion and decided to stand up and trade with Kos, doh! What a freaking idiot. The poll we ran was REALLY damned close but 59% of you gave it to Sanchez. The decision went to Koscheck and rightfully so, Sanchez tried maybe two takedowns in the whole fight and that’s what cost him the fight. Why oh why would he stand up and try to “box” Koscheck, I have no idea.

This was a pretty decent fight card, except for the Sanch/Kos fight, that bored me to tears.

Here were my UFC69 predictions, 6 5 out of 9 isn’t that bad:

  1. Georges St. Pierre - wrong
  2. Diego Sanchez - wrong
  3. Yushin Okami - correct
  4. Kendall Grove - correct
  5. Roger Huerta - correct
  6. Pete Sell - wrong
  7. Pete Spratt - wrong
  8. Heath Herring - correct
  9. Luke Cummo - correct

Who would have thought that Serra would have beaten GSP? Also, if that dumbass Sanchez had been a wrestler instead of a wannabe boxer I would be 8/9! I am at least glad that Marcus Davis won. The Roger Huerta Vs. Leonard Garcia fight was a good 15 minute banger.

5 fights out of 9 going to decision is kinda hard to take but I wasn’t disappointed, better than blazing through a fight card with around 9 fights going at 30 seconds!

UFC69 Get your bet on, last chance!

Bet your home, car and dog on Georges St. Pierre. He is going to win tonight. He’s -1100 now at BetUS.com.

Also, Diego Sanchez is the favorite at -220, but screw that, Koscheck although he’s a bit of a dick and I want to see him lose, I think it’s worth throwing a bit of cash money on him to win.

Betting $100 on Koscheck wins you $170. Straight up that’s a good bet.

Betting $100 on Leonard Garcia to take out Roger Huerta can win you $450, nice!!
