Here’s a phone conversation Randy had on ESPN…I think it expresses his disdain for the UFC and how it treats its fighters, stick around to hear Dana White’s comments at the end…classic:

Yup, you read that right.
No Fedor, No fighty!
Thats he mantra for current Heavyweight Champion Randy Couture stating:
“I appreciate this opportunity the sport of MMA and the UFC has given me. However, I’m tired of swimming upstream at this stage with the management of the UFC. It only makes sense at this point in my career to fight Fedor Emelianenko, and since he’s now signed with another organization, I feel like it’s time to resign and focus on my other endeavors.”

Chuck Liddell, arguably the most successful MMA fighter of all time and a household name. A hero to men and women alike (15 women a week apparently). Chucks legacy seems assured with victories over the great Randy Couture , victories over Tito, Babalu, Belfort etc etc.
Since loosing to Jardine however, Chuck seems to be hinting at a return to the octagon in a more journey man role. Fighting because he loves fighting rather than going on a mission to win back his light Heavy Weight belt. From Chucks point of view it could be a long road back with multiple obstacles on the road such as Shogun, Jardine, Forrest, Hollywood, Alexander and of course Rampage. A minefield of talent. The toughest division in MMA.
If Chuck decides to fight midlevel opposition will he taint his legacy? Is there a way back to the top for the 37 year old in such a competitive division?

Remember around a year ago? No new UFC DVD’s had come out for about 6 months? Remember that? No? OK. Apparently I’m the only one without a life here…..
But if you DO remember that long lull in the pre-recorded action, you were probably quite excited when you FINALLY found a brand spankin’ new UFC DVD release sitting on the store shelf come the turn of the year.
And if you are anything like me, you were probably pretty disappointed when you watched the fights on said brand spankin’ new UFC DVD……
Not disappointed in the fights themselves, but in the quality of the recorded material which had so thrilled you many months before. Face it. After the break in releases, the frame rate and image quality came down to just a notch above bootleg quality.
So what happened? Why the crappy quality? The UFC has been making more money than ever before, since early 2005. If anything the quality should be better than it was.
And what the hell was with that long-ass delay between releases? Did they feel the need to build the tension for 8 months? Well, I don’t have a solid answer for you as to why the quality plummeted but it may be related to the reason for the delay…….
Back in early 2006, Ventura Distribution was purchased by a company called First Look Studios. Shortly afterward Zuffa, parent company of the UFC brought forth allegations of accounting violations against Ventura (now First Look) which caused said delay.
Now, I’m not a betting man but given the fact that after the delay, it was First Look Studios who was distributing the DVD’s instead of Venture. I’d be willing to wager that they are the culprit for the crapiness of the recent batch of DVD’s.
If you too are sick of watching Randy knock the crap out of Tim Sylvia at a reduced frame rate with a blurry picture, UFC-FIGHTS.com will be your voice! To let your voice be heard, simply leave your name in a comment on this article by clicking the “comments” link above (duh). Once we have collected a reasonable number, we will send the link to First Look Studios directly to tell them to clean up their act!

As Rich “Ace” Franklin prepares to face his arch-nemesis Anderson Silva in a rematch for the UFC Middleweight championship, I can’t help but notice all the anti-Franklin sentiment on the net these days.
As I sit down to write about this phenomenon, I ask myself: Why? Why do so many MMA fans hate Rich so much? He seems like a stand up kind of guy.
Wait a tick…… I hate Rich Franklin!
But for the life of me, I couldn’t give you one solid reason why.
Could it be I’m just that big of an Anderson Silva fan? No, that‘s not it. Jealousy? I don’t think so. Is it the fact that he looks like he’s Jim Carey’s twin brother separated at birth? Not that either……..
I think in my case at least, I get the sense that he thinks he’s god’s gift but just won’t come right out and say it. As if he’s “in the closet” with his arrogance. Allegedly, he auctioned off a ten minute telephone conversation with himself on eBay and some poor sap paid $5,000 for the privilege.
That’s right folks! For the low, low price of just 5 G’s, you too can talk to Rich Franklin for 10 minutes! That’s only $500 a minute!!! You almost can’t afford not to call!!!
…………. Ummmmm, I think I’ll pass. I know a guy who will sell me his PS3, 5 games and a 1977 Gremlin with a full tank of gas for less than $5,000.
Now, I must defend Rich here: He is a good guy at heart, there’s no doubting that. He donated the entire $5k to charity. But COME ON Rich. How high on yourself do you have to be to charge somebody thousands of dollars just to talk to you? At least give the guy something he can keep like a signed picture or pair of gloves!
Now keep in mind: This is all just speculation. Yours truly didn’t actually SEE the auction on Ebay. This could all be bogus so don’t go changing your opinion on Ace based on this hearsay. Remember kiddies: Rumors are bad! But sometimes, they’re true. And personally, I wouldn’t put it past Rich. You can see it in the eyes I tell ya!
Just my 2 cents. What do you think?
