Silva vs. Franklin 2: What Will Be Different?

So Rich Franklin is about to challenge Anderson Silva for the title “The Spider” took from him in their last meeting. What chance does he have after the beating he took last time?

A lot better chance than most people expect….

You see, Rich Franklin is a very cerebral fighter. You can bet he’s watched the tape of the last fight over and over and picked apart his performance.

You can also bet that Franklin will stay the hell away from Silva’s clinch……..If he can.

Look for Franklin to try to turn the fight into a brawl. He had some (limited) success striking from mid-range in the first encounter. He may even take his chances with “The Spider”s ground game.

The real question is here: Even if Franklin gets his way with one of the above scenarios, does he really have an advantage over Silva in any position????

We will find out on Saturday. But I’d be willing to wager it will be a hell of a lot more competitive this time around.

Randy Couture RETIRES!

Yup, you read that right.

No Fedor, No fighty!

Thats he mantra for current Heavyweight Champion Randy Couture stating:

“I appreciate this opportunity the sport of MMA and the UFC has given me. However, I’m tired of swimming upstream at this stage with the management of the UFC. It only makes sense at this point in my career to fight Fedor Emelianenko, and since he’s now signed with another organization, I feel like it’s time to resign and focus on my other endeavors.”

UFC81 - Super Bowl Prelude?

Rumors are swirling that UFC81 will follow up another appearance by the UFC in europe with a card to coincide with the Super Bowl.

We’re also hearing talk that it will be a Randy Couture Heavyweight Title defense but against who is still up in the air.

If this is the case, we have to assume it will be in Las Vegas, and since the SB is friggin MASSIVE in Sin City these days, you’d have to figure that this event would be monsterous!

We’ll keep you posted.

UFC78 - Validation Headliners Confirmed

UFC78 will NOT feature Tito Ortiz vs Rashad Evans Pt 2 - The Snoozer. It will in fact have undefeated (yeah right, baaad decision, from now on we’ll call him 13 - 1) Michael Bisping against 15 - 0 - 1 Rashad Evans.

This is all according to UFC.com, whichas we all know could arbitrarily swap in fighters like they were trading hockey cards, so don’t hold us to it.

The rest of the rumoured card looks like this, we think, sort of:

Karo Parisyan vs Hector Lombard

Frank Edgar vs Spencer Fisher

Joe Lauzon vs Jason Reinhardt

Dave Terrell vs Ed Herman

Ryo Chonan vs Thiago Alves

Tamdan McCrory vs Akihiro Gono
