UFC Light Heavy Weight Division - A fountain of talent.
A fight is a fight and anyone can beat anyone on any given day! Just who is the best Light Heavy Weight on the planet? This division is just awesome and the results that its throwing up are against form and mind boggling.
- Wanderlei Silva beats Quinton Jackson, Dan Henderson beats Wanderlei Silva, Quinton Jackson beats Dan Henderson.
- Shogun beats Jackson, Jackson beats Liddell, Forrest beats Shogun.
- Bonnar beats Jardine, Jardine beats Forrest, Houston beats Jardine, Jardine beats Liddell, Liddell beat Randy, Randy beats up everyone (as a Heavyweight)
The only pattern is chaos.
The talent pool is so deep and wide at present, that predicting the outcome of a Light Heavy Weight is a nightmare. Sponsors must be having a hard time too, not knowing which guys to back. One things for sure though, this is a great time to be a fan. A golden age in MMA.
Is the Light heavy Weight division missing a dominant champ, a stand out figure. Our current champ has been convincingly beat by 2 current UFC fighters, Shogun and Silva, or are we just happy that a fight is a fight and anyone can beat anyone on any given day.

When is it ok to boo fighters in the cage?
Some fighters get booed on the way to the Octagon. Tito Ortiz and josh Koshcheck spring to mind. You don’t like them, ok then, its ok to show it I suppose. Booing 3 seconds after a fight hits the ground? No its not ok and it shows a lack of knowledge of MMA, go and watch K1 if you don’t like ground fighting.
Booing after non stop lay and pray tactics on the ground, or stand up standing off with no action, you don’t like it, ok then you can show it.
Booing a dodgy decision, Penn VS GSP, Bisping VS Hamil. Its your god given right to boo. In fact its your duty! The judges and promoters need to know you won’t stand for it.
Just remember though, you Boo Boys, it isn’t easy to get in a cage in front of 20,000 people and have a fight. Maybe its ok to boo fighters in the cage but only in the right places and at the correct times.

Chuck Liddell, arguably the most successful MMA fighter of all time and a household name. A hero to men and women alike (15 women a week apparently). Chucks legacy seems assured with victories over the great Randy Couture , victories over Tito, Babalu, Belfort etc etc.
Since loosing to Jardine however, Chuck seems to be hinting at a return to the octagon in a more journey man role. Fighting because he loves fighting rather than going on a mission to win back his light Heavy Weight belt. From Chucks point of view it could be a long road back with multiple obstacles on the road such as Shogun, Jardine, Forrest, Hollywood, Alexander and of course Rampage. A minefield of talent. The toughest division in MMA.
If Chuck decides to fight midlevel opposition will he taint his legacy? Is there a way back to the top for the 37 year old in such a competitive division?

Ever wondered what your favourite UFC fighter would be doing if he didn’t choose a life in the octagon.
Can you imagine your new accountant turning up to your office with a Mohican and tatts on his skull. That would raise a few eyebrows for sure. Well good old Chuck Liddell is a trained accountant. I see Chuck more sitting on his porch, banjo on his lap, stroking his pig and spitting tobacco. Waiting for one of his traps to snap.
Big Bob Sapp was a football player. Rich Franklin was a school teacher. Evan Tanner had a multitude of jobs in construction. Tito Ortiz was an anger management counselor for under privileged juveniles. One of the coolest alternative occupations has to be that of Mirko Filipovic (Cro Cop). There’s a clue in the name. Yes, an anti terrorist cop in Croatia among other things.
Its not an easy life, that of a fighter, only a chosen few succeed, but the rest can always fall back on their alternative occupations.
You didn’t believe that about Tito did you?

Lots of people like to smoke weed, from all walks of life. That’s a fact, good or bad.
Sports people found after a hard days training ‘having a burn’ would relax your muscles and aid recovery. They say weed chills you out. Bodybuilders used weed in the 70s and yes allegedly Arnold Schwarzenegger, former mr olympia, California Governor and A list movie star, loved a smoke.
Recently UFC fighters and commentators have been ‘at it’. Joe Rogan, UFC commentator and comedian, says having a weed gets him ready for his stand up routine and his BJJ training. Diego Sanchez, Nick Diaz and Phil Baroni have all proved to be naughty boys smoking pot recently.
As for ‘weed’ being performance enhancing, forget it. Quite the opposite I imagine.
Suspending fighters for testing positive for cannabis… It’s still illegal to smoke so I suppose they have got to, or maybe they should just chill out a bit. I know just the thing….
