I turned up pretty late for the fight, maybe three or four fights to go and got to see some very predictable match ups. They really should have called this UFC77: “Predictable”. The main fight went just like the last one, everyone was cheering Silva and I was the only one hoping Franklin would find a way through and hurt Silva.
Tim Sylvia “won” his fight in the most unbelievably lackluster way. He pressed Brandon Vera against the cage and used his 35llb and 5 inch height to his advantage. In the few moments when he wasn’t man hugging Vera there were a few exchanges (literally a few though) were Sylvia did hit home and win the points. Ultimately it went to a points decision for Tim who’ll fight for the title in his next fight. Unbelievable. I have a great few rants coming up about what the hell is going on in the UFC.
the highlight fight of the night was the Alvin Robinson Vs. Jorge Gurgel. Robinson, a BJJ brown belt was supposed to have lost that fight to Gurgel, a BJJ black belt. On paper that is… The end result was an amazing ground and pound game by Robinson that resulted in Gurgel’s face looking like… well, let’s say the elephant man, but in reality it was worse like when Tito ground Shamrock’s face into mince meat.

I sure was hoping Franklin would win, but I now respect Anderson is the MW champion of the world.

silva looked great again.i feel he let rich off lightly and could have finished him at will from the outset.silvia looked good in the final round.i wish the fans would give him a break.
tim sylvia executed a game plan by clinching and throwing the odd knee.not very good 2 watch 4 two rounds,but it worked.in the third he came with the short punches and it worked.i say fair play 2 tim.
randy has used a similar tactic and is applauded.randy is given longer in the clinch than any other fighter,before the ref splits it.this is because the crowd doesnt boo randy in the clinch.

Starnes’ skull was showing. He should have never went back out there for more punishment! As a fellow Canadaian he has alot to learn. Stephan/Schafer fight was just okay(Bonnar is not reallt one of my favs; although good fighter) Good action in the Robinson/Gurgel bout. Beyond recognition. Was that Gurgel?LOL Silvia/Vera was interesting to watch. If I had a big tree leaning on me I wouldn’t know what to do either( couldn’t imagine Silvia even attempting to go down to 205. No way. (Nice illegal kick buddy) Silvia/Congo? Okay then. Franklin/Silva; I would have thought Franklin would have performed a bit better than that. Not only for his fans but he is a good fighter. Just not as good. The polls were close at 47%Silva 53% Franklin. Sorry Franklin fans. He will fight again though. Can’t wait for UFC 78 on Nov. 17 and 79 in Dec. Don’t be too sad anyone another time another fighter for these guys. Cheers.
I guess Anderson Silva is unstoppable at the moment, I thought Tim Sylvia looked very good and I hope to see him fighting the top guys in the HW div soon.
DAMN whats your beef with Sylvia???? Vera pushed him against the fence! The dude just came off back surgery and upped his cardio and still gets loads of stick!
Im not a Tim Sylvia fan but them booing him was wrong he did a good job and finished it in the third round i give props

The best fight I ever saw was when Randy beat his ass. I don’t know, when Sylvia fights his next fight for the title maybe Couture will come back out of retirement and win it again.
Get Denis Kang into the Octagon with him and then we’ll see who’s the best middleweight in the world. My money will ALWAYS be on Denis Kang.
Dan Henderson, I really hope that guy comes down to 185 if anyone can clinch with Silva its him.
Come on man, This guy has 6 (T)KOs in the octagon and then had some boring fights ill give you that, but he is obviously talented and a good fighter. Name 1 boring fight he had in the ufc before his title reign!
Hey I have nothing against Silvia. I know he has back surgery. As for his weight and his height it is inTIMidating. He has got skills and can use them at the right time. PieFace I like Silvia if your knocks were against me. Every fighter has their own way about it that’s what is interesting. Chill
