Bas Rutten spoke to Kimbo’s agent Icy Mike and it looks like the fight with legendary fighter Tank Abbott could be on yet another poo poo Elite XC card.
Kimbo wants to make it happen, Tank wants it too. It was supposed to be on October 12th and Rutten was training Kimbo and since that didn’t happen and they didn’t take it to the parking lot and Kimbo has to stop street fighting or he’ll kill someone, soooooooo, *deep breath*, it’s all on again. I just got off the phone with Tank, he doesn’t know why their fight that was supposed to happen two weeks ago got mysteriously cancelled. I do - Kimbo watched a Tank hilight reel. He can’t wait for the chance to close Slice’s mouth! All he has to do is lay a left jab on his jaw and it’s all over!!

I think Kimbo is being put up against tough respectable bums. Mercer = joke now Abbott. Abbott is a damn good fighter, and its not so much he gets winded.. if he doesnt knock you out in ROund 1 i think he gets discouraged, unlike his younger days where he would KO you any time any round. Now, for a good Kimbo MMA fight, put Kimbo vs Randy ” the Natural ” Couture, Or even Gabriel Gonzanga. Hell even toss in Chuck Liddel, or Keith Jarrdien ( spelling?? )
David ‘Tank’ Abbott, has always been one of my favorites, but see him either KOing Kimbo first round, or Kimbo KOing Abbott second round. Neither guy has alot of stamina, they are flash KO boxer fighters. and throw everything into all their punches.
Lets not forget, Kimbo Lost! He lost to a Police officer i forgot his name. but he was from the boston police department and he knocked Kimbo down 3 times for 30 counts.
Predictions = Tank Abbott KO Round 1. or Kimbo KO round 2.

I think Tank is WAY past it, granted the guy is tough but hes now what? 43? His last fight alone should have made him realise his career as a “GREAT” fighter is behind him. I dont think that Kimbo is very good but the guy will come in and look to knock tank out, I think Tank will go in hoping to survive the first minute! Take a look at Tanks last fight (vs Gary Turner at Cage Rage 21)and tell me he will KO Kimbo!
Tanks only downside that i can see is because of his body structure.. he will be slower on the ground .. No i do not think Kimbo wil get a 1st round KO .. it will be a second round KO … OR …. first round submission..

If I may jump in between you two for a post, LOL These two fighters have a up and down career like anyone in this sport. Sure age plays a factor, but Randy is older and more physically capable of 5 five minute rounds. Their styles are quite different in alot of ways. IF I had to put money on this (if it ever happens) It would be on Tank only because Kimbo is a talker and seems like he has more gaps in his game. Just my opinion; that’s what posts are for. I don’t think anyone claims to know everything, just strong voices. Carry on you two!!!!!

Im not sure what to take on this. Has Tank even trained for this fight?I’ll give him the ring experience,but lot of his fights he got winded in the first minute of the fight..Kimbo’s cardio is in question,and his age of starting MMA is a question as well(granted Houston Alexander got in at 35,and I think kimbo is 33).
If Kimbo is serious about making a living out of MMA and not just a paycheck,I think he will do okay if set his mind and has the right training crew(ditch ur posse,ur MILF crew). He won’t be a BBJ expert so he needs to concentrate on ground n pound,and take-down defense,kick-boxing..thats just my opinion..
I would love to see him fight in the UFC against brock Lesner just for shits and giggles…

ok we have some people here with some interesting opinions but lets get real these boys are both bad and its going to go either way ! if the fight lasts more than three minutes Kimbos conditioning will come into play if it dont they both have awesome punching power & it will boil down to who gets some early clean shots although they both have great chins Bas Rutten will educate Kimbo in some ground skills but i dont think either one would be truly satisfied with a submission! i personally cant wait for this fight im excited!!

Good question, I’m out here in Vancouver, BC Canada and we can’t get it either. I would luv to see this fight, I don’t think I would underestimate Kimbo, lots of REAL fighting experience and I wouldn’t be surprised if he went up against tougher competition if he beats Tank with ease. A few years ago Maurice Smith beat the hell out of Tank with his leg kicks. I think Kimbo has alot more potential than being given credit for especially if good fights come fast enough for him and he keeps winning with ease.
