UFC77 Fight Update - Kalib Starnes vs Alan Belcher

kalib.jpg

Our favorite Canadian TUF Fighter Kalib Starnes is set to fight again!

Coming off a solid unanimous decision victory over Chris Leben a UFC71. On that same card, a well rounded and experienced Alan Belcher submitted Sean Salmon.

Although not official, “I am very Excite!”

I agree, Starnes doesn’t impress. Maybe he’s another Jason MacDonald

I used to train with Revolution fight team which Kalib is part of, back when he was training for TUF 3. I never trained directly with him as he stuck to the Jui-jitsu class mostly and I was training kickboxing but I saw a lot of him. Kalib really hasn’t shown what he can do yet in the UFC. He has amazing ground skills and he is monsterous for a middle weight. I think now that hes gotten a big win under his belt with the Leben fight he will relax a little more and we can see him live up to his full potential…

I’ve been hoping and waiting to see Starnes get somewhere in UFC. I just like him. I hear you that he has more skill than he is displaying, but I don’t see him engaging.
Let’s hope he sets it off in this next fight.

Maybe a training camp change could get things moving? I think Randy could really do something for him there. A lot of guys in his camp are starting to take their games to level. Forrest Griffin is one good example. He looked like a totally different fighter in the Ramirez fight. I know Kalib is a single father so changing camps/locations might not be an option. I also wonder about his training. His physique at one time was close to #1 in the UFC and at his last few showings he’s looked really deflated.

Leben and Starnes thought they had put on an awesome fight. I don’t know about that.
