This will be Randy Couture’s first heavyweight title defence against Cro Cop killer, the Brazilian Behemoth (that should be his nickname) Gabriel Gonzaga. This is going to be huge! Now that’s an understatement.
Also on the card it was confirmed that my main man from Montreal, Georges St. Pierre, will take on the mouthy, undefeated mofo Josh Koshcheck in his first fight since losing his title to Matt Serra. More TBA…

As for my prediction, I see Gonzaga taking the fight. Gonzaga has that 40lb weight advantage. Not sure what randy weighed in against tim. I don’t think randy has fought any good bjj lately. Go Randy !

in the rock /paper / scissors world of MMA I figure we’d need to see more sides of Gonzaga before we’d know exactly how much he’s the real deal.
The elbowing looked skillful against CroCop but then again that was a chink in CroCop’s armor too, at least at that point in his UFC days.
In Pride working from the guard could mean Fedor Style punches OR working towards submissions from either top or bottom -although there are a few dreadful nearly missed Fedor punches in Cro’s Fedor fight that makes me think that he might not have held up to Fedor on a different nite… With Pride/knees both fighters gotta think of that - Crocop is good at dealing with that -
but not elbows - although I bet he’s working like hell on that now! the high kick was OK … but the he got there from the elbowing.
I guess the couture fight will show another side of Gonz

I’ve managed to see a few Gonzaga fights. heavy hands, very good chin. Even the MMA fight he got TKO’d he never blacked out - although it was one of those fights that makes you glad there’s a ref to stop it! Gonzaga’s grabbing the foot of CroCop after a good (liver) kick was very impressive. He may well have practiced that a lot. Good gameplanning skills! execution too.
BJJ skills might be more visable against Couture. Should be very interesting
Koscheck is not undefeated. He lost to Drew Fickett. He was winning the fight right up until that big knee though :-)
