Let’s thank John McCain and Dana White for improving UFC; without them we would be watching some out of shape, unskilled fighters getting knocked out by some professionals. Now we can watch two trained professional fighters with good cardio go at it for 3 to 5 5minute rounds. The old UFC was not as appealing as it is now. The honor, the respect the worrier mentality that is seen in each fighter now shows how long the UFC has come. Don’t get me wrong, the old fighters were good too, but not all of them; some of them should of have never been allowed to step into the octagon, because of their skills, shape and fighting mentality (not true worriers)

I know most of us don’t want to admit John McCain helped the UFC, but he did, and let’s not forget what Dana White did; he took the sport to a whole different level

I agree. It's a great structure these days (maybe a little too over-organized Dana?) but it's good and we're seeing it a lot more on TV which is great. In the old days it was hard to get it but now you can see it as it happens.

i think that today the ufc is a lot more professional than in the beggining, but it has always been brilliant to watch.

I like both the old school and todays ufc, I feel it has evolved over the years into a great sport and the fighters keep honing their skills to provide some very interesting and entertaining bouts...

i think it depends what you like. more rules or less rules. old school had less rules and those guys could go at it like there was no ref around. in some ways it wasn't as technical. i'm not saying it wasn't, but it's not like today where a fighter can't come out and pull someones hair and hold em' to the ground to beat the shit out of them. they have to be more technical and follow the rules. i prefer todays fighters but i give a big thanks to the old school fighters.

Loved the ECW title and the Bob Sapp reference. The sport sure has come a long way from its humble, no rules beginnings.
