Here it comes. This is what we’ve been waiting for. Last month we were spoiled by the UFC with a PPV and a freebie, that was an awesome month, it made us miss the fighting, let’s face it, the TUF series isn’t exactly thrilling viewing.
Here we go, Chuck Liddell left PRIDE after Quinton Jackson beat him from the mount and Liddell’s corner throws in the towel. That was then, Liddell rejoined the UFC and has avenged ALL his losses except for one and tonight he gets that chance. Did I also mention that he is unbeaten since rejoining the UFC?
Jackson’s no chump but it is his second UFC fight so he is not as experienced in this arena as Chuck. And that counts. he won his debut fight against Marvin Eastman later in the second round with a knock out, he has knockout power. HE also went the distance to Matt Lindland so he can cope with wrestlers and Chuck uses wrestling well to position his opponent for a beatdown. I can’t wait for this fight.
Meanwhile it’s the Din Thomas fight, he got the armbar on the young kid. I think the fight was stopped prematurely but as I was explaining to my girlfriend and Joe Rogan called it that we don’t want another Mir/Sylvia thing again…
I want Chuck Liddell Vs. Quinton Jackson already! The fight play by play will be here so you know you gotta click to check it… The atmosphere is ELECTRIC! Remember, I gotta go with Liddell on this one no matter what, Chuck looks cool coming in to the ring he acknowledges the crowd, they love him.
Round one. A lil kick to the inside leg from Chuck and this is a cautious fight… Not much happening yet. A lot of pacing around my Chuck. Rampage is in the middle being encircled. Chuck lands an uppercut but it’s diminished somewhat… It’s over, Rampage catches him and then finished Liddell off with big pounds from above and Big John stops it. F&%K!
Liddell’s dazed - that big right laid him out and then a few punches later Rampage did KO chuck and I am not sure if this will go down as a KO or TKO stoppage. This is bullshit. I am so pissed right now. There really is nothing to say, it went down as a knockout. Oh my god, Quinton Jackson takes the belt, he’s the new UFC Light Heavyweight champion.
I guess he can drop the skate shoe sponsor now, he can probably make a few bucks out of fighting.

The fight was very discouraging! Rematch or not, I am done with the UFC. It has turned into nothing more than wrestling with all the drama and it seems to me at this point that it has been turned from fabulous real fighting into nothing more than propeganda! I am completely disappointed with Dana White for getting caught up in the fame.

damn right, I made money on that fight….Love Rampage. And he kicked his ass just like i thought he would…..Liddell has a glass jaw, and definately can not take a hit. He has spent almost 2 years with his “ground and pound” and now got what was coming. I don’t think he will forget this one. I mean it was the first hit from Jackson that buckled his knees. MONEY.

I’m not so sure Russ….as much as I love to watch the fights, I don’t think I could watch that rematch. The passed UFC’s have been leading up to this. It seems like the good fighters are losing so Dana can cash in on more rematches. And besides, I cannot stand Jackson! I do appreciate your spirit Russ, that’s for sure!
I don’t think Dana was stoked on Liddell losing. He’s the biggest icon UFC has, ESPN and Sports Illustrated covers etc… Chuck Rocks (just don’t chuck em at cars).
My dog is more intelligent than Quinton, he makes me cringe when he is being interviewed, every good fighter will have an off or bad fight once in a while just as any normal human will have a good or bad day at work. Chuck will be back….

I’ve watched the fight over a few times (all the fights at UFC71). Would you say that that after that body shot Rampage took he swung blindly at connected with Chucks ice block head? Was it a lucky/blind shot?

I still think it was a punch just thrown out there. Then again, pit that against what Burkman was doing when he was exhausted.
I don’t know if “lucky” really had much to do with it or not. I mean if you look at Chucks “stand-up”, he is always throwing side over-hand and always as a combo, Quintin had an opportunity when he went under and threw a heavy right on his way up. Just caught the “Glass-Jaw” at the perfect spot.LOL……and yes, Chuck did look a bit out of shape, but not enough to say that he was not ready for this.
He knew full well the hands and strength that Jackson was coming in with. I think that when the re-match comes around, then we will see a little different Chuck, maybe the way he was in his prime.
Either way I am looking forward to the “Henderson/Jackson” match up. My money is still on Jackson….

Rampage beat him the first time “why is this so surprising?” Rampage is the truth…do your research. Gonna be some interesting defenses now. And how is MMA becoming soap operish when the golden boys are losing…that’s exactly what does not happen, look at proffesional wrestling. Dudes are hungry…and now that everybody jumping on the MMA bandwagon, there is money to be made.
