With the funnelling of PRIDE FC’s superstars to the UFC, the only one to not be confirmed is Fedor. Mauricio “Shogun” Rua (Still the coolest nickname in MMA) could debut as soon as UFC73.
Now for those of you who aren’t familiar with Shogun, you should be ashamed of yourselves. For starters his name rules, secondly he is ranked as the #1 Light Heavyweight in the world by mmaweekly.com (Yes, ahead of Rampage) and third, he kicked the living crap out of the newly crowned champ in 2005.
It looks likely that Wanderlei Silva will be in the UFC. I’m not over excited about that but the possibility of Fedor Emelianenko crossing over is HUGE!
At a post UFC71 press conference, Dana White said “yeah, that’s probably what we’ll do - Chuck versus Wanderlei” when questioned about Chuck Liddell vs Wanderlei Silva. Oh now I see how these rumor mills start turning…
Get Fedor to the UFC, PRONTO!
Dana White then went on to talk about hoe the UFC “would have all of the best fighters, “going on to say that the UFC “Were working on Fedor right now - everybody means everybody. They’re all going to be here.”
If Liddell can knock out Wanderlei Silva then perhaps that will do two things for Chuck.
Give him confidence for this next fight
Get him a rematch against Jackson
Wandy’s last two fights have been against Dan Henderson most recently and then Cro Cop before that, but Wandy’s a tough bastard, he’s beaten Guy Mezger, Dan Henderson and Quinton Jackson (twice). It’s like Wanderlei is Jackson’s bogeyman, like Jackson is Liddell’s…
WTF would happen if Wandy and Liddell fought and Wandy won and had the third fight against Jackson if Jackson defended against Henderson… Weird, but somewhat interesting.
