After all those card mix ups we finally have some confirmations form the UFC about whats going on at UFC71!
Pretty much in a month from now on the 26th of May 2007, Chuck Liddell will take on the challenger, “Rampage”, Quinton Jackson. Get your ass to the MGM Grand in Las Vegas for a ripper of a fight!
Quinton Jackson is a big time fighter these days but he seems to bottle it when he comes up against another big fighter. Mauricio Rua, Wanderlei Silva and even Marvin Eastman back in the day. These were mere glitches - 6 defeats in his MMA career, not bad.
Chuck Liddell on the other hand has only three glitches in his career, and guess who was the spoiler in one of them? That’s right, Mr. Jackson (not Michael, that would be BAD). As well as Randy Couture and Jeremy Horn, no other man has beaten Chuck Liddell. Can Rampage pull this one off again? Personally, I don’t think so, then again the UFC is full of upsets these days!
Also on the card is “The People’s Warrior” Josh Burkman who told me recently that he will be getting a title shot if he defeats Karo Parisyan and THEN another opponent to get a shot at the title. Burkman’s dope, he last survived the striking power of “The Grinder”, Chad Reiner and won by decision and before that ANOTHER decision with a visit to the against “The Dentist”, Josh Neer.

This was originally supposed to be on the same bill as the Tito Ortiz Vs. Rashad Evans, Rich Franklin Vs. Martin Kampmann but it’s been pulled away from there and is now a separate event - UFC73 will have Nathan Marquardt taking on the guy who caused Rich Franklin to have spent a few thousand dollars to get his nose reconstructed - Anderson Silva…
More to come when I get it.

As you all know Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic ran as a non-party candidate on the Social Democratic Party list in parliamentary elections and won a seat in the Croatian Parliament. The main reason why he was elected as an official is because of his stand on underfunding of the police force which he is a member of (anti-terrorist branch.) You can see his government profile here.
I haven’t seen any news about any possible injury to Cro Cop. I have been scouring the Internet and making calls but nobody seems to know. First thing I’ll say is this, I have trained in various martial arts since I was aged 6, flexibility is a key part of my training and I know that Mirko is extremely flexible, see below.

My point is that he ha a better chance of not being injured than say a wrestler or boxer who specifically doesn’t include flexibility into their training regime. Long story short, I hope he’s OK and can continue fighting. I am so glad he walked out of the Octagon.
This is all good and well but in November when his government duties are complete he plans on returning to the anti-terrorist branch of the Croatian police force. I don’t know if he’ll be fighting again if he does that full time.
Anyone have any thoughts and most importantly any news this would be great. UPDATE from a UFCmania user:
..at the airport in Zagreb, Croatia, Cro Cop did reveal to Net.hr that he injured ligaments in his right foot but that it’s, “nothing to fear.

So I spoke to the dude at BetUS and he’s the guy that does the podcast, nice guy. He got me that prop made for Crop Cop to win by Kick & KO.
Anyway, on to the main fights. $100 bet on Gabriel Gonzaga will win $350 whereas you have to bet $500 on Cro Cop to win $100. The smart money is on Cro Cop but with so little of a return why wouldn’t someone throw $50 on Gonzaga, that’s $175 - not bad.
Similarly, Bisping is favorite and thus you have to bet $500 on him to win $100. For Sinosic, if you bet $100 you could win $350. There is money to be made here people!
Arlovski and Werdum are both -115. This is strange, I would have had this fight heaviy in the odds of Arlovski but it seems that the BetUS bookmakers are unsure. Hrmmm…
Lyoto Machida is a safe bet win - you will however need to get $350 on him to win $100. There is money to be made, I would put a $100 bet against either Bisping or Cro Cop. You have a good chance that one may lose in an upset (hell, Matt Serra beating Georges St. Pierre?)
