Wow, if you weren’t watching UFC69 last night then I hope you were being forced to work and earning triple double time or at least with the hottest piece of ass in the world! UFC69 was INSANE!
The results for UFC69 were not what anyone expected. The main event saw George St. Pierre take on the huge underdog in Matt Serra. Underdog, yes, but he always had a chance. Everyone (111) voted that GSP would win, check the poll archives. 49% said that GSP would win by TKO Strikes, 34% by KO, 14% said submission (why?!) and 3% said he’s win by a decision. All good, that’s what we all thought and that’s what was going to happen until Serra caught GSP with a sweet hook and GSP went to the mat. Serra immediately mounted him and started to punch the crap out of him until Big John McCarthy stepped in to stop it. Screw Easter, Christmas has come early for Matt Serra. Back home ot Long Island with some nice belt bling for him.
The other “upset” was the Josh Koscheck Vs. Diego Sanchez fight, or should I say Sanchezzzzzzzzzzz (I am falling asleep here). Man, 15 minutes of my life I wish I was doing something else. Oscar De La Hoya trained Sanchez well, in fact he trained him so well that he forgot he was a college wrestling champion and decided to stand up and trade with Kos, doh! What a freaking idiot. The poll we ran was REALLY damned close but 59% of you gave it to Sanchez. The decision went to Koscheck and rightfully so, Sanchez tried maybe two takedowns in the whole fight and that’s what cost him the fight. Why oh why would he stand up and try to “box” Koscheck, I have no idea.
This was a pretty decent fight card, except for the Sanch/Kos fight, that bored me to tears.
Here were my UFC69 predictions, 6 5 out of 9 isn’t that bad:
- Georges St. Pierre - wrong
- Diego Sanchez - wrong
- Yushin Okami - correct
- Kendall Grove - correct
- Roger Huerta - correct
- Pete Sell - wrong
- Pete Spratt - wrong
- Heath Herring - correct
- Luke Cummo - correct
Who would have thought that Serra would have beaten GSP? Also, if that dumbass Sanchez had been a wrestler instead of a wannabe boxer I would be 8/9! I am at least glad that Marcus Davis won. The Roger Huerta Vs. Leonard Garcia fight was a good 15 minute banger.
5 fights out of 9 going to decision is kinda hard to take but I wasn’t disappointed, better than blazing through a fight card with around 9 fights going at 30 seconds!
