UFC69 is just around the corner and the highlight fight is Georges St. Pierre VS. Matt Serra. I’m having Russ the admin pull the “Does Matt Serra have a chance against Georges St. Pierre at UFC69?” poll off and make one a little bit more detailed.
Let’s take a peek at the poll. Only 41 people voted, first off - that’s lame! Come on guys!
76% of the votes said NO - that Matt Sera didn’t have a chance against Georges St. Pierre, leaving 24% giving him a chance. First of all, of course he has a chance. That was kind of a silly question in the first place, go look at any UFC fights that have ended up in an upset. In fact, don’t look too far back, remember Jason Lambert KO’ing Renato Sobral, not to mention Randy Couture beating Tim Sylvia!
So here’s what I’m thinking, Matt Serra does have a chance - he has submission moves, he also has durability on his side which was proven with his last 5 fights ALL going to 3 rounds, 15 minutes in total. He also took BJ Penn to 3 rounds in 2002. That’s an achievement in itself. When asked about what he thought about decisions his reply was
“They suck. Especially when they don’t go your way. “
Matt Serra’s a great guy, I like him a lot and yet again I will say it, he has a chance, albeit a slim chance.
Georges St. Pierre has lost once at UFC50 against Matt Hughes (probably one of the greatest fighters at 169llbs). This was of course avenged at UFC65 with a second round TKO. Georges St. Pierre has 13 wins and only one loss, that was 6 or 7 fights ago, that makes him a very strong favorite for the fight, you can see why. It’s his 26th birthday in May, now that amazes me, he’s on course to be the best fighter in his weight class. The main reason why he isn’t an easy opponent for Matt Serra is because he’s virtually impossible to submit and even takedown in the first place.
I don’t want to built this up to be any more than what it is. I don’t want to make the odds seem to be stacked up against Matt Serra, all I can say is that this is going to be a great fight, whether it lasts 3 rounds or not, it’s hyped up and it should deliver. Matt Serra will fight anyone no matter what, he has balls, maybe this is why he does have a chance to take the win.

I think its Matt Serras time, He has a tough fight against
Matt Hughes but I think he matches up far better against
Hughes than Hughes matches up against him so im predicting
Matt Serra to win a decision.
